With Spring now firmly established we are thinking about the move into Summer Fashions. Marcasite is still maintaining it’s popular position as a beautiful stone set in silver - so we have decided to stock more designs in Marcasite.

Silver prices have now increased even more and I know some of you buy silver as an investment as you will be wearing these pieces for many years to come. We do try to keep our prices as low as possible however in some cases we have had to raise the cost to you in order to maintain the quality of our unique jewellery.

The latest news is that we are now stocking Britain’s Most Beautiful Stone - Blue John - which has been highly prized since Roman times for it’s colour and it’s rarity. It is only found in one place in the world - under a hill in Derbyshire.We are pleased to be able to say that we are working with a Derbyshire designer to being you the most stunning pieces of jewellery.

I can’t believe it is already half-way through March. It will soon be Easter and, with thoughts of holidays and weddings, we are pleased to be able to offer you our silver jewellery collection for March and April. Please remember we can provide you with special pieces for any special occasions - weddings, birthdays, anniversaries. Every year the New Forest ponies are rounded up and taken to pounds in all areas of the forest. Each pony is owned by someone and ‘The Drift’ allows the owners to find out how their ponies are  - after probably not seeing them for a year.

The agisters of the New Forest rebrand the ponies, which does not distress the ponies even though it looks painful  - they object more to having reflective collars put on.

Each pony is also wormed:

and their tails are cut in different ways to indicate which area of the forest the ponies graze:

As soon as possible the ponies are released back onto the New Forest with their new tail cuts:

I thought I would let you have a preview of new stock which will be arriving in the next 2 weeks. I know many of you like to buy stock as soon as it arrives - so here it is!

Bakewell in Derbyshire is a quaint small town nestling amongst high hills of the Derbyshire Dales. It is reputed to be where Jane Austen stayed when she edited ‘Pride and Prejudice’ in 1811. The town of Lambton which Miss Elizabeth Bennet visits is based on Bakewell and the grand estate owned by Mr Darcy is supposedly based on Chatsworth, which is not far away.

Bakewell also lays claim to the fact the delicious Bakewell Pudding was invented here and can be purchased from the ‘Original Bakewell Pudding Shop’ in the town - amongst other places.

I visited Bakewell not long ago to visit the ‘Bakewell Show’ which is a wonderful event taking place every year in August. There are many stallholders in the Craft tent, Food tent and WI tent. Whilst in the arenas there are heavy horses on display:

My father used to be in charge of 51 of these horses when he was young. The horses were used to pull milk carts and funeral hearses.

Apart from heavy horses there are cattle and dog shows:
